03032018 – Skiing

It was a great morning to ski. It was 35f when I got back and was sunny with just the right amount of clouds!

I tried the natural snow trails, but the bridge trail was icy, so I headed over to the man made goodness! They were setting up for the Junior Festival and had double tracked most of the trails down the middle. This was great for the classic ski me!

03022018 – CrossFit

18.2 and 18.2a!

As noted in the announcement this was a burner! I also really struggled with whether to try this Rx or not. I could have done the movements as written. Ultimately, I did it scaled and that was a good decision. I barely made it into 18.2a and would not have had I done it Rx. What was this 18.2 CrossFit Open workout?

In 12 minutes complete the following:

1 dumbbell squat (2 35# dumbbells)

1 barfacing burbee

2 of each

3 of each

4 of each

5 of each

10 of each…

Then with any time remaining get to a 1RM Clean – this is 18.2a.

The first 5 rounds moved along pretty quickly l, but after that things started to slowly fall apart. The burpees got really hard, if you need help with the math there were 55 of each movement and round 8 is when you hit the halfway mark on the reps. I started out doing strict burpees but started doing more stepbacks or stepovers in rounds 6 and 7. I finished the last round with less than a minute and was able to squeeze in 3 cleans in that time finishing with 120 on the bar. That last minute was intense with loading the bar and cleaning it.

02272018 – CrossFit

It felt like today hit all the sore muscle groups from yesterday! Just in a slightly different way!

A time oriented squat workout with the following setup:

0:00 10 reps

2:00 8 reps

4:00 6 reps

6:00 4 reps

8:00 2 reps

Scored on the 2 reps. I went up by 10lbs each set and finished at 145 which felt plenty heavy at the end!

The MetCon was a nice chipper style one. Due to space mine got a little out of order but this is what I did:

40 Russian Swings 35#

30 Push Press 80#

50 Cal Row

40 Russian Swings

50 Cal Row

I finished in 13:53. The push press was definitely on the heavy side more me, but I got it done with only a handful of push jerks accidently mixed in! Since I did the 50 Cal Row I completed it scaled plus!

02262018 – CrossFit

That was a doozy!

12 minutes to a heavy single Split Jerk. I got 135 up and attempted 145 but it wasn’t happening. 135 is a 25 pound PR. Quite pleased with that!

The MetCon was simple but brutal.

I was able to do this which is scaled as written. It was quite the doozy. I had to break it up quite a bit and was doing one pushup at a time for the last 8, but I got it done. The whole class 11 other soles were all cheering me on which helped make it through!

02242018 – Skiing

We got 5 inches of snow yesterday and it was great to ski the natural snow trails again! I finished out on the man made snow to get 8.2 miles of skiing. I felt really good until I hit the hills of the man made loops! The natural snow trails that I did were mostly flat and those were great. I also didn’t fall until the last couple of hills which was an improvement. The worst fall was on the big hill by the chalet when my ski hit some loose snow on the side and I face planted and slid! I got some “ice rash” from it too!
