Another morning workout outside! The weather in the afternoon wasn’t going to be great so I wanted to get it done. It was around 33f in the morning. It warmed up some before it rained and then snowed!
I rode my trainer in the basement doing some short sprints! And then snuggled up for the evening wondering if the storm would be as bad as expected!
It was going to be another busy Monday evening so I decided to workout in the garage/driveway again for my outdoor workout. And use my trainer in the evening.
This morning’s workout was the weekly Vault and I opted for the sandbag version instead of double dumbbell snatches! I had to modify the burpees and box jumps, but it was still a good workout!
The Bike trainer was boring, but I used the time to also get my reading for the day done! A little double duty time for the win!
I was struggling to figure out my plan for the days workouts when I realized that it had been back below freezing and skiing could be a good option. So I went and had my longest ski of the year using my skate skis at Wirth. The trails were relatively empty as most of the big races are done for the season. But the snow felt fast and it wasn’t super cold so it was a nice day to be out skiing!
In the home stretch now! I went to V3 in the morning and did the 5/3/1 for bench and shoulder press which with warmup ended up taking the entire 45 minutes. I also signed up for a 30 day yogalaties program which combines yoga and pilates. That will be an interesting challenge! Today was just a 5 minute core fitness check (which was challenging). After all that I swam for a little bit. I did some warmup then 5×50 and 5×25.
In the afternoon I took my Pilot for an oil change and did a 4 mile walk. There is a park nearby that I’ve biked around so it was a change in pace to walk around it!
It is currently CrossFit Open season. I’ve not participated in The Open in many years as a registered participant. I remember the days when I used to have the announcement playing on YouTube on the TV in the living room! I think after the pandemic, leaving a gym, and some of the choices that CrossFit made through the years I’ve paid less attention to it. Some of the professional athletes are sitting out this year after how last years’ tragedy was handled.
That said, I’ve done some of the workouts occasionally through the years. This year though I heard about the Out Foundation‘s Out in the Open competition. You register with them and they program 3 workouts named after famous LGBTQ individuals. It’s the same price $20 so I registered. I couldn’t decide which division to join and ended up joining the Performance (middle one).
Today I did their first workout! It was a good one, except I can’t do burpees and I don’t have a 35# dumbbell. So I used my 25# and did elevated step outs. I finished in 11:37.
