In some ways life and work have been so busy that it is hard to really feel like the taper has kicked in.\u00a0 But then again 2 days in a row without running is hard to handle! But the weather has been amazing!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small; color: #0066ff;\"><strong>Monday:<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #990033;\"> <\/span><em>3 miles. <\/em>I ran out and back along the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/midtown-greenway-recreational-mecca\/\">Greenway <\/a>for a nice 4 mile run.\u00a0 This may have been the warmest run of the week in the upper-50&#8217;s in the morning!\u00a0 I ran in 29:54.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small; color: #0066ff;\"><strong>Tuesday:<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #990033;\"> <\/span><em>4-6 miles.<\/em> Our last group training run.\u00a0 It was a nice and relaxed run as we tried to dial back the pace a bit.\u00a0 We even practiced for the marathon by starting behind the next slower pace group and waiting patiently for the first mile before slowly pulling away.\u00a0 Ok, so that was by accident.\u00a0 We ran in Edina and got in 5.28 miles in 41:30.\u00a0 The run was followed by a talk about preparing for the marathon. It was in the mid- upper 50&#8217;s for this one.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small; color: #0066ff;\"><strong>Wednesday:<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #990033;\"> <\/span><em>0-3 miles.<\/em> I did my <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hubert_H._Humphrey_Metrodome\">Metrodome<\/a> loop on a chilly morning.\u00a0 I was wearing long-sleeves and my knit gloves for this one.\u00a0 I think it was 43! The marathon starts at the Dome so I was scoping out the starting areas.\u00a0 I did 3 miles in 25:17 and things are feeling good!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small; color: #0066ff;\"><strong>Thursday:<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #990033;\"> <\/span><em>0-3 miles. <\/em>A nice rest day!!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small; color: #0066ff;\"><strong>Friday:<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #990033;\"> <\/span><em>0-3 miles.<\/em> Another good day of rest and hanging out with old college teammates!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small; color: #0066ff;\"><strong>Saturday:<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #990033;\"> <\/span><em>0-2 miles.<\/em> A relaxing and easy 2.5 miles around Powderhorn Park.\u00a0 It was a beautiful sunny morning with temps in the low-40&#8217;s.\u00a0 It was nice to get some of the cobwebs out but not be strenuous.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small; color: #0066ff;\"><strong>Sunday:<\/strong><\/span><em>RACE DAY!!! 26.2 miles<\/em>. I did it!! 26.2 miles in 3:25:54!! My first marathon is complete.\u00a0 It hurt and it rained, a lot.\u00a0 Stay tuned for more details throughout the week!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Weekly Mileage<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Running &#8211; 41.2 miles<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small; color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hal&#8217;s Tip of the Week: <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>Smile as you cross the finish line. More important:      Don&#8217;t punch your stopwatch until a few seconds later, while you&#8217;re in the      chute.
