{"id":60,"date":"2007-09-05T07:13:00","date_gmt":"2007-09-05T15:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=60"},"modified":"2008-02-28T06:48:13","modified_gmt":"2008-02-28T14:48:13","slug":"what-is-on-the-ipod","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2007\/what-is-on-the-ipod\/","title":{"rendered":"What is on the iPod?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you remember earlier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=12\">posts<\/a>, you know that I don&#8217;t actually have an <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.bbc.co.uk\/lincolnshire\/content\/images\/2006\/09\/27\/10k_cancer_research5_470_352x470.jpg?resize=82%2C107\" align=\"left\" height=\"107\" width=\"82\" \/>iPod but a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000F35SCM?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=crossinator-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B000F35SCM\">Sansa e250 MP3 player<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=crossinator-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B000F35SCM\" style=\"border-style: none ! important; margin: 0px\" border=\"0\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\" \/>which I really enjoy.  I mentioned that I tend to listen to podcasts instead of music when I run with it, which is only sometimes.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.podcast.com\/podcastcom-faq\/what-is-a-podcast\/\">Podcast.com<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A \u00e2\u20ac\u0153podcast\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is a buzzword to describe a very simple concept: an audio or video file available on the Internet for you to listen to and\/or watch. A podcast can also refer to a series of audio or video files (a podcast show, similar to a TV or radio show), and when using the word podcast most people refer to the entire series and not just one show.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Oversimplified a podcast is an audio version of a blog!<\/p>\n<p>I know I am a geek but thought I&#8217;d let you know which podcasts I listen to because some are relevant to running\/endurance sports!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running-related<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phobos.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=73330780\">Endurance Planet<\/a> is a podcast of <a href=\"http:\/\/enduranceplanet.com\/index.html\">EndurancePlanet.com<\/a> which covers a different endurance sport related topic each day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.podshow.com\/showguide\/?key_id=phedippidations&amp;feed_type=pdn_show\">Phedippidations<\/a> (it took me a while to learn to pronounce it!) is an hour long weekly podcast with a variety of running information and sometimes corny jokes and songs hosted by <a href=\"http:\/\/steverunner.com\/\">Steve Runner<\/a>.  This was recently featured in Runner&#8217;s World.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Political<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phobos.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=213013312\">Mayor Kevin Smith (Anderson, Indiana)<\/a> had a weekly radio show before the election season and I listened to the podcast to see what was happening in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofanderson.com\">city<\/a>.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gcast.com\/user\/ONE\/podcast\/onecast\">ONEcast<\/a> is a random podcast produced by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.one.org\">ONE campaign<\/a>. The ONE campaign is trying to raise awareness about international poverty.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikepence.house.gov\/podcasts\/\">Pence&#8217;s Podcasts<\/a> is an other randomly produced podcast featuring highlights from Rep. Pence sometime on the radio and sometimes his speeches from the floor of the US House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cfr.org\">Council of Foreign Relations<\/a> has two podcasts one is from random <a href=\"http:\/\/phobos.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=162197885\">seminars<\/a> and the other is random <a href=\"http:\/\/phobos.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=153370146\">short updates<\/a> about international political, social, and economic issues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christian <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phobos.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=122386057\">Anderson University Chapel<\/a> publishes random <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anderson.edu\">chapel<\/a> services from their bi-weekly schedule.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phobos.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=214622927\">The Bridge Community Church<\/a> (my home church) publishes some of the weekly messages.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phobos.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=179235935\">Christian Community Development Association<\/a> publishes workshops from their annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccda.org\/\">conferences<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/phobos.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=209636503\">Crescent Project<\/a> publishes a monthly message from their speaking tours or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crescentproject.org\/\">seminars<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phobos.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=79737240\">Taylor University Chapel Messages<\/a> (my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.taylor.edu\">alma mater<\/a>) post many of their thrice weekly chapel services.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phobos.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=89709888\">Vintage 21 Sermons<\/a> is from an excellent <a href=\"http:\/\/vintage21.com\/\">church<\/a> in North Carolina (very random I know).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phobos.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=182871064\">Word Made Flesh<\/a> publishes monthly excerpts from their &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wordmadeflesh.org\/learn\/beggarssociety.html\">Beggars Society<\/a>&#8221; a weekly gathering where they talk about God&#8217;s mercy for the poor.<\/p>\n<p><em>I know I am a geek, my wife definitely thinks so! <\/em>I would note that this gives me plenty to listen to and think about while I&#8217;m running and it really isn&#8217;t that much since many of them don&#8217;t update on a regular basis.
