{"id":3021,"date":"2012-07-02T07:31:50","date_gmt":"2012-07-02T12:31:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=3021"},"modified":"2012-07-02T07:31:50","modified_gmt":"2012-07-02T12:31:50","slug":"june-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2012\/june-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"June 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are my goals for 2012 and my progress towards them:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #1:<\/strong>\u00a0Finish\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tribuff.com\/\">Buffalo Triathlon<\/a>\u00a0on June 3. \u00a01\/4 mile swim, 12 mile bike, and 3 mile run. (Under 1:15)<\/p>\n<p>Completed. \u00a0I finished in 1:15:45.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #2:\u00a0<\/strong>Improve on my\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.frontrunnerusa.com\/event\/a-test-triathlon\">Square Lake<\/a>\u00a0time from last year (1:58) 1\/2\u00a0Mile Swim 16.5 Mile Bike 5 Mile Run<\/p>\n<p>My training has been pretty much on track. \u00a0I took a week or so off and got right back into training. \u00a0I&#8217;m using a plan from Beginner Triathlete again with 3 swims. \u00a0I&#8217;m using the 10k training plan from the FIRST method. \u00a0Its workouts are intense but I feel good about them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #3:\u00a0<\/strong>Use and write about the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www2.furman.edu\/sites\/first\/Pages\/FirstTrainingPrograms.aspx\">FIRST Method<\/a>\u00a0for my running. 5k for the spring and 10k for the fall.<\/p>\n<p>This started on June 19th. \u00a0I&#8217;ve had some scheduling issues but have gotten the intervals in each week and at least one other of the prescribed workouts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #4:\u00a0<\/strong>Complete\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youversion.com\/reading-plans\/project-345\">Project 345 Bible Reading plan<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 takes you through the New Testament in the year.<\/p>\n<p>This continues to go well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #5:<\/strong>\u00a0Read a variety of books (genre, style, authors).<\/p>\n<p>I finished <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0060ANFPG\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B0060ANFPG&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=crossinator-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B0060ANFPG\">The Long Run<\/a>, a short Kindle story about a guy who turned his life around in part with running. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1565125606\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1565125606&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=crossinator-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=1565125606\">Water for Elephants<\/a> is an interesting read that makes me glad I never became a Carny! Gruen weaved a fascinating tale of life on the circus trains that was based on real life experiences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #6:\u00a0<\/strong>Document my thoughts on at least 6 of the books I\u2019ve read.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m planning to write a review of Meb\u2019s book.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #7:<\/strong>\u00a0Blog.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Running \u00a0&#8211; a little bit better since I had two events to write about.<\/li>\n<li>Midtown Phillips \u2013 averaging one post a day<\/li>\n<li>Nadia \u2013 averaging one post every two weeks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Goal #8:<\/strong>\u00a0Project 365<\/p>\n<p>Overall I think I&#8217;ve done really well with this. \u00a0As I noted sometimes I forget or don&#8217;t do anything exciting and the picture is lame. \u00a0I&#8217;ve contemplated just stopping this goal. \u00a0I think I&#8217;ve come to the place where I&#8217;m going to try to remember to take a good picture and if it doesn&#8217;t happen that&#8217;s fine too.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Running: 37.6 miles<\/p>\n<p>Swimming: 2.8 miles<\/p>\n<p>Biking: 301.3 miles * thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2012\/powderhorn-24-in-tweet-form\/\">Powderhorn 24<\/a> for the huge bump in miles.<\/p>\n<p>LAST YEAR:\u00a0I ran 49.6 miles, swam 2 miles and 282 miles on the bike.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here are my goals for 2012 and my progress towards them: Goal #1:\u00a0Finish\u00a0Buffalo Triathlon\u00a0on June 3. \u00a01\/4 mile swim, 12 mile bike, and 3 mile run.
