{"id":2979,"date":"2012-05-05T15:07:34","date_gmt":"2012-05-05T20:07:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=2979"},"modified":"2014-03-01T23:51:14","modified_gmt":"2014-03-02T04:51:14","slug":"april-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2012\/april-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"April 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve really been struggling to get all my workouts in each week. \u00a0It seems like I can get up one morning, but then struggle the next. \u00a0The 5:15 alarm makes it tough and knowing that some days I have to be home by 6am it is easy to psyche myself out. \u00a0April was <a href=\"http:\/\/30daysofbiking.com\/\">30 Days of Biking<\/a> and I did pretty good with riding every day. \u00a0I missed riding 7 days which is a lot more than I thought.<\/p>\n<p>Here are my goals for 2012 and my progress towards them:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #1:<\/strong>\u00a0Finish\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tribuff.com\/\">Buffalo Triathlon<\/a>\u00a0on June 3. \u00a01\/4 mile swim, 12 mile bike, and 3 mile run. (Under 1:15)<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been getting plenty of swimming and biking in, but the running has been a little harder. Bike commuting is really helping build leg strength as I tow the trailer around. \u00a0I also got a new bike! \u00a0Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bikesdirect.com\">Bikesdirect.com<\/a>\u00a0I got a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bikesdirect.com\/products\/motobecane\/fantom_cross_cx2.htm\">Motobecane Fantom CX<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #2:\u00a0<\/strong>Improve on my\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.frontrunnerusa.com\/event\/a-test-triathlon\">Square Lake<\/a>\u00a0time from last year (1:58) 1\/2\u00a0Mile Swim 16.5 Mile Bike 5 Mile Run<\/p>\n<p>See above.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #3:\u00a0<\/strong>Use and write about the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www2.furman.edu\/sites\/first\/Pages\/FirstTrainingPrograms.aspx\">FIRST Method<\/a>\u00a0for my running. 5k for the spring and 10k for the fall.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve not been following it strictly, ok mostly not at all. \u00a0I&#8217;ve done some fartlek runs and some tempo runs but nothing consistent. \u00a0I&#8217;m not even getting the mileage in consistently. \u00a0Ugh.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #4:\u00a0<\/strong>Complete\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youversion.com\/reading-plans\/project-345\">Project 345 Bible Reading plan<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 takes you through the New Testament in the year.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing up the Book of Luke.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #5:<\/strong>\u00a0Read a variety of books (genre, style, authors).<\/p>\n<p>I finished the Hunger Games series by reading <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0439023513\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=crossinator-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0439023513\">Mocking Jay<\/a>, I was a little disappointed in the ending. \u00a0We actually borrowed it from a friend so I was able to save my April Lending Library book for<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1414339577\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=crossinator-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1414339577\">\u00a0Meb Keflezighi&#8217;s Run to Overcome<\/a>, but I haven&#8217;t finished it yet. \u00a0We also finished an interesting book called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0970858736\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=crossinator-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0970858736\">Nomad Diaries<\/a>, we&#8217;d been reading it for a long time. \u00a0It started out as a decent novel about a refugee family from Somali and about half way through became really weird.
