{"id":2934,"date":"2012-02-04T12:38:59","date_gmt":"2012-02-04T17:38:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=2934"},"modified":"2012-02-04T12:38:59","modified_gmt":"2012-02-04T17:38:59","slug":"january-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2012\/january-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"January 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Empty Seats by crossn81, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/crossn81\/6816970839\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7169\/6816970839_228765d042_m.jpg?resize=144%2C240\" alt=\"Empty Seats\" width=\"144\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a>What a crappy month. \u00a0I&#8217;ve been sick for most of the month. \u00a0I got strep throat within a week of being home from Indiana, then picked up pink eye. \u00a0Just as I was finishing up the drugs for strep I started getting a sinus problem that stuck around for the rest of month and continues to rear its ugly head. \u00a0It has been very frustrating because I was hoping to get some nice base training in before my training program started (which is this week). \u00a0Ugh.<\/p>\n<p>Here are my goals for 2012 and my progress towards them:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #1:<\/strong>\u00a0Finish\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tribuff.com\/\">Buffalo Triathlon<\/a>\u00a0on June 3. \u00a01\/4 mile swim, 12 mile bike, and 3 mile run. (Under 1:15)<\/p>\n<p>I did a total of 8 workouts for January. Which sadly, is the same number I did last year. The added frustration for this year is that the weather has been perfect for running outside!!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #2:\u00a0<\/strong>Improve on my\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.frontrunnerusa.com\/event\/a-test-triathlon\">Square Lake<\/a>\u00a0time from last year (1:58) 1\/2\u00a0Mile Swim 16.5 Mile Bike 5 Mile Run<\/p>\n<p>See above.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #3:\u00a0<\/strong>Use and write about the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www2.furman.edu\/sites\/first\/Pages\/FirstTrainingPrograms.aspx\">FIRST Method<\/a>\u00a0for my running. 5k for the spring and 10k for the fall.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve only run a few times. \u00a0Fortunately, I don&#8217;t have to start the FIRST training until March.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #4:\u00a0<\/strong>Complete\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youversion.com\/reading-plans\/project-345\">Project 345 Bible Reading plan<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 takes you through the New Testament in the year.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been able to keep up or catch up using their 2 catch up days in this plan. \u00a0This year it comes straight to my inbox.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #5:<\/strong>\u00a0Read a variety of books (genre, style, authors).<\/p>\n<p>I finished <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/159486649X\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=crossinator-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=159486649X\">Run Less, Run Faster<\/a>\u00a0book and training guide. \u00a0I also read, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00125MK7I\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=crossinator-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00125MK7I\">The Gospel of Ruth: Loving God Enough to Break the Rules<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #6:\u00a0<\/strong>Document my thoughts on at least 6 of the books I\u2019ve read.<\/p>\n<p>nothing yet!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal #7:<\/strong>\u00a0Blog.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Running \u00a0&#8211; not a very good job!<\/li>\n<li>Midtown Phillips &#8211; averaging one post a day<\/li>\n<li>Nadia &#8211; averaging one post a week<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Goal #8:<\/strong>\u00a0Project 365<\/p>\n<p>This has actually been hard this year. \u00a0I&#8217;ve done almost every day. \u00a0I can&#8217;t really put a finger on why it is hard, but I think just being super busy and sick I&#8217;ve not spent much time thinking about it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So there you have it a crappy start to the year!<\/p>\n<p>Running: 15.7 miles<\/p>\n<p>Swimming: 400 yards<\/p>\n<p>Biking: 8.5 miles plus 72 minutes on the trainer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a crappy month. \u00a0I&#8217;ve been sick for most of the month. \u00a0I got strep throat within a week of being home from Indiana, then picked up pink eye. \u00a0Just as I was finishing up the drugs for strep I started getting a sinus problem that stuck around for the rest of month and continues [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_feature_clip_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2},"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false},"categories":[33],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2934","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-highlights"],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"jetpack_shortlink":"https:\/\/wp.me\/p4iaAv-Lk","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"jetpack-related-posts":[{"id":2948,"url":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2012\/february-2012\/","url_meta":{"origin":2934,"position":0},"title":"February 2012","author":"crossn81","date":"March 1, 2012","format":false,"excerpt":"I started the month still sick, but have been feeling pretty normal now. \u00a0It has been hard to get up at 5:15 each morning to try and get a workout in. \u00a0Especially since it finally got cold again!
