{"id":2681,"date":"2011-06-22T06:46:45","date_gmt":"2011-06-22T11:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=2681"},"modified":"2011-06-22T06:46:45","modified_gmt":"2011-06-22T11:46:45","slug":"twin-cities-fittest-in-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2011\/twin-cities-fittest-in-usa\/","title":{"rendered":"Twin Cities Fittest in USA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Minneapolis Skyline by crossn81, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/crossn81\/4676377269\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4015\/4676377269_d93dab1b13.jpg?resize=300%2C225\" alt=\"Minneapolis Skyline\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>The Twin Cities surpassed Washington DC as the fittest city according to\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acsm.org\/\">American College of Sports Medicine<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acsm.org\/AM\/Template.cfm?Section=Home_Page&amp;TEMPLATE=\/CM\/ContentDisplay.cfm&amp;CONTENTID=15952\">2011 list of America\u2019s fittest cities<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webmd.com\/fitness-exercise\/news\/20110524\/minneapolis-saint-paul-nabs-fittest-city-title\">WebMD <\/a>provided a great summary of the report which included this paragraph:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Even though the Twin Cities reduced park-related expenditures in 2011, the area\u2019s percentage of parkland is still above average, and so is its percentage of recreational facilities other than\u00a0swimming pools, according to a report from the American College of Sports Medicine, which was made possible by a grant from the Indianapolis-based WellPoint Foundation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It is no surprise that Portland made the top 5, since Minneapolis and Portland swap the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2009\/minneapolis-best-in-the-world\/\"> best biking city<\/a> designation. \u00a0And actually none of the top 5 are that surprising. \u00a0Here is the list (with their score and 2010 rank):<\/p>\n<table align=\"center\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">1.
