{"id":1975,"date":"2010-05-03T09:15:12","date_gmt":"2010-05-03T14:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=1975"},"modified":"2010-12-29T22:54:41","modified_gmt":"2010-12-30T03:54:41","slug":"lyme-disease-aprils-thoughts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2010\/lyme-disease-aprils-thoughts\/","title":{"rendered":"Lyme Disease &#038; April&#8217;s Thoughts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Lyme disease\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lyme_disease\">Lyme Disease<\/a>. \u00a0That is my my final diagnosis for my knee. \u00a0When my sports doctor got back from a conference the final results from my blood work had arrived and showed that I had a confirmed case of Lyme Disease. \u00a0This is the dreaded thing ticks carry. \u00a0We aren&#8217;t sure when I actually contracted it, but I never had the tell-tale rash and being a runner Lyme Disease wasn&#8217;t an obvious choice. \u00a0So now I&#8217;m on a month-long course of antibiotics. \u00a0Assuming they work I should return to normal life. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t realize this but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bartyasso.com\/\">Bart Yasso<\/a> has chronic Lyme Disease. \u00a0Obviously the knee has helped set the tone for the month. \u00a0I logged 68 miles on the bike, most of which are commuting miles and did a 3 mile test run. \u00a0Hopefully by the end of May I&#8217;ll be running again.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend I went backpacking with a friend at <a href=\"www.dnr.state.mn.us\/state_parks\/jay_cooke\/index.html\">Jay Cooke State Park<\/a>. \u00a0We had a good time hiking and exploring. Last year Jay Cooke was our final run of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2009\/another-training-less-week\/\">mancation<\/a> and hiking there brought back some memories from then!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve set a few random goals for the year:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Run Around All Named Bodies of Water in Minneapolis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This whole not being able to run thing is really cramping my style on this one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read the Entire Bible in a Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another good month. \u00a0Mark is a really small book, but they&#8217;ve spread it out over 2 months!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read a Book a Month<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0470375043?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=crossinator-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0470375043\">Cause Wired<\/a> which is about the digital\u00a0revolution\u00a0and the social (philanthropic) sector. It combines two of my favorite non-running topics &#8211; social media and the nonprofit\/social justice realm. I\u00a0received\u00a0it free for taking part in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/world-vision-wrap-up\/\">Blog Action Day Against Poverty<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blog Regularly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t posted since March 10 on my personal blog (I hope it isn&#8217;t dying). \u00a0 I posted regularly on here and that&#8217;s more important for you! \u00a0 I continue to do well on my\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/365\">Project 365<\/a> (taking and posting 1 picture a day). I&#8217;ve almost forgotten to post a picture and have actually forgotten to post the picture I took, but I&#8217;ve taken a picture (some better than others)!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other things of note&#8230;<\/strong> Things have been really good but very busy. \u00a0We&#8217;ve gotten some yard work done and ended up doing more landscaping than we&#8217;d planned on. \u00a0I was getting a little tired of looking at weeds in the &#8220;flower beds,&#8221; our yard is full of dandelions and I&#8217;m pretty sure my one neighbor hates it. \u00a0Sorry!
