{"id":1918,"date":"2010-03-29T08:48:49","date_gmt":"2010-03-29T13:48:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=1918"},"modified":"2010-03-29T08:48:49","modified_gmt":"2010-03-29T13:48:49","slug":"a-real-goose-egg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2010\/a-real-goose-egg\/","title":{"rendered":"A Real Goose Egg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My knee isn&#8217;t getting better.<\/p>\n<p>It might be getting worse.<\/p>\n<p>A visit to the Sports Doctor last Monday revealed no new information. \u00a0There is fluid on the knee, the x-ray doesn&#8217;t show anything, all of the manipulation tests are fine. \u00a0It could be an injury and the knee is swelling to protect it. \u00a0This seems to be what everyone is shooting for since it is just one knee. \u00a0We&#8217;ll actually need an MRI to try to determine the actual problem. \u00a0MRI&#8217;s can cost anywhere from a $1,000 to $3,000, which means we&#8217;d have to pay for it (we have a high out of pocket expense that has to be met first). \u00a0The doctor and I discussed it and decided to put off getting the MRI to see if the knee would get better.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday while it was swollen it wasn&#8217;t too bad. \u00a0It started getting worse again on Tuesday. \u00a0I think in part because I stopped taking\u00a0ibuprofen at her suggestion. \u00a0This let the inflammation return. \u00a0It seems that when I wake up in the morning the swelling has gone down but by the evening it is swollen up again, due to the\u00a0activity\u00a0we call going to work.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously since I was hobbling around without being able to bend one leg very much I didn&#8217;t run or bike. \u00a0I opted for the &#8220;healing&#8221; time and didn&#8217;t do anything. \u00a0I&#8217;m getting fat and lazy.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday morning Christy and I got up to help a friend man water stops. \u00a0A friend of ours is the local <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2010\/ragnarworldvision\/\">Team World Vision<\/a> representative. \u00a0He has partnered with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teamortho.us\/\">Team Ortho Foundation<\/a> as a Charity Partner. Part of the responsibility as a charity partner is to provide volunteers for water stops during Team Ortho&#8217;s training runs. \u00a0It was a great morning to run, but a little chilly to be standing around at the 5.5 mile mark\/turn around point. \u00a0It was nice to chat with runners though and be part of it. \u00a0The highlights from the morning were getting to drive the <a href=\"http:\/\/teamcross365.posterous.com\/team-ortho-truck\">Team Ortho truck<\/a> (and learning more about their organization) and getting breakfast with a cool group of people at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mooseandsadies.com\/\">Moose &amp; Sadie&#8217;<\/a>s.<\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s <strong>One Post<\/strong> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/i-miss-trail-running\/\">I Miss Trail Running<\/a>. \u00a0I actually miss all kinds of running right now, but it has been especially hard to see posts and updates from my friends on their trail running this year. \u00a0It has been such a great spring for running&#8230;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My knee isn&#8217;t getting better.
