{"id":1844,"date":"2010-02-15T09:15:25","date_gmt":"2010-02-15T14:15:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=1844"},"modified":"2010-02-15T09:15:25","modified_gmt":"2010-02-15T14:15:25","slug":"getting-motivated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2010\/getting-motivated\/","title":{"rendered":"Getting Motivated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has still been a struggle to get up in the morning and go for a run.\u00a0 The sun is starting to creep up earlier and earlier each morning and that is helping.\u00a0 Plus I&#8217;ve got my morning routine down and I just need to take the first step and break it.\u00a0 Another more legitimate excuse is that after the bad experience of running on unplowed paths, I&#8217;m being extra picky about running surfaces.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve talked previously about my struggle to get up in the morning and making it to the gym.\u00a0 But with one more physical therapy appointment my morning schedule should open up a little bit!<\/p>\n<p>I did manage a whooping 8 miles this week over 2 runs.\u00a0\u00a0 The first was 4 miles on the indoor track at the YWCA.\u00a0 It is 6 laps per mile.\u00a0 I was planning to go workout at the YWCA after work and it also happened that my school&#8217;s basketball teams were playing a double header there too.\u00a0 I missed the girls game but got to see over half of the boy&#8217;s game while running laps above them.\u00a0 Some of the students noticed me and started yelling &#8220;go Mr Cross!&#8221;\u00a0 The next day one of the girls said, &#8220;Mr Cross you are too skinny to be working out!&#8221;\u00a0 I thanked her and went on my way.<\/p>\n<p>The second 4 miler was from my house to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/midtown-greenway-recreational-mecca\/\">Midtown Greenway<\/a>.\u00a0 It is plowed by the county and they do an excellent job.\u00a0 It was a beautiful morning to go out and run.\u00a0 It was cold and windy, but we had a freezing fog so there was a beautiful layer of frost\/ice on everything, see some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/crossn81\/sets\/72157623302359515\/\">pictures here<\/a>.\u00a0 It was a simple out and back and overall the footing wasn&#8217;t too bad.\u00a0 Some icy spots and I stepped into some slush that wasn&#8217;t frozen solid.\u00a0 A good comfortable run.<\/p>\n<p>For Valentine&#8217;s Day we went to Lebanon Hills and did a few miles of snow shoeing.\u00a0 I forgot my garmin, but we had fun wandering off the trail, walking across lakes, and enjoying the beautiful morning.\u00a0 Shortly after we got done another snow storm moved in!<\/p>\n<p>Did you have a good week?
