{"id":1499,"date":"2009-07-20T04:06:57","date_gmt":"2009-07-20T09:06:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=1499"},"modified":"2009-07-27T08:47:41","modified_gmt":"2009-07-27T13:47:41","slug":"tcm-training-week-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2009\/tcm-training-week-7\/","title":{"rendered":"TCM Training Week 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Been Sick.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Past Posts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two years ago I ran the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2007\/race-review-lapel-cdls-5k\/\">CdLS 5K<\/a>. Someone stopped me recently when wearing the shirt and asked if I knew anyone with CdLS.\u00a0 I said it was just a race I had run.\u00a0 He had a son with CdLS and thanked me for helping raise money for the cause.\u00a0 That was pretty cool.\u00a0 I bought a pair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/product-review-pearl-izumi-go-shorts\/\">Pearl Izumi shorts<\/a> to wear for my marathon and reviewed them.\u00a0 I wrote about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/saving-schools-a-vital-asset\/\">education in Africa<\/a> as part of my World Vision fundraising.\u00a0 I run a lot on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/midtown-greenway-recreational-mecca\/\">Midtown Greenway<\/a>, it is a great place to run and bike.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/foto-friday-32\/\">Foto Friday <\/a>was from the Outer Banks Killer Dunes 2 mile race.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Last Year&#8217;s Mileage<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Run: 39.3 Miles<br \/>\nBike: 30.3 Miles<br \/>\nSwim: 300 Yards<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Year&#8217;s Training<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last week I felt a little off one day, ran the next and felt great, then didn\u2019t feel so well again.\u00a0 On Friday I woke up with a pain in my neck and lower back (when I stretched).\u00a0 I opted not to run and by the evening I was starting to feel achy and exhausted.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday I woke up with a fever, achy, chills, and still with the 2 pains.\u00a0 I convinced Christy to take me to Urgent Care and we arrived right before a big rush.\u00a0 The doctor spent maybe 10 minutes with us \u2013 listening to my symptoms and quickly checking my body over.\u00a0 She ordered a CBC to check my white blood count.\u00a0 The lab tech had trouble drawing my blood because I was so cold, he managed to get enough to\u00a0 test my blood.\u00a0 We then met the doctor again and she said that things looked fine in my blood so I had some type of virus.\u00a0 She indicated that she couldn\u2019t test me for <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Influenza A virus subtype H1N1\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Influenza_A_virus_subtype_H1N1\">H1N1<\/a> aka Swine Flu.\u00a0 She also said that she couldn\u2019t prescribe the tamiflu to me anyway so there was no reason to test for it.\u00a0 I was also missing 2 of the \u201cindicating symptoms\u201d of H1N1.<\/p>\n<p>My symptoms don\u2019t really match any specific virus that I can find online.\u00a0 I don\u2019t have enough for <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Lyme disease\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lyme_disease\">lyme disease<\/a> or <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"West Nile virus\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/West_Nile_virus\">West Nile<\/a>.\u00a0 <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"WebMD\" rel=\"homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/www.webmd.com\/\">WebMD<\/a> has lots of great diseases that I checked out over time, but none really matched my symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>I mostly have a fever while I\u2019m sleeping or napping.\u00a0 Which is what I\u2019m supposed to be doing.\u00a0 My temps have ranged from 96.3 to 102.3 since Saturday.\u00a0 Friday was the last time I slept through the night.\u00a0 Every other I\u2019ve been awoken by the fever.\u00a0 When I haven\u2019t had a fever I feel pretty good and life seems normal (except for the being cooped up at home part).\u00a0 But once the fever hits I don\u2019t feel so hot again.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, I\u2019ve been able to eat full, regular meals without an stomach or intestinal distress.\u00a0 That is the only upside of my being sick.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last week I\u2019ve had to miss work everyday, a board meeting for the YNPN in the Twin Cities, SALT (English tutoring), a race, 2 group runs, small group, and had to reschedule an appointment with a physical therapist for my running.\u00a0 Not to mention that it has been an amazing week, weather wise.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m planning on going to a doctor today.\u00a0 Hopefully they will be able to do something for me, besides just rest and drink lots of fluids.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been tweeting about my illness.
