{"id":1472,"date":"2009-07-13T04:15:51","date_gmt":"2009-07-13T09:15:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=1472"},"modified":"2009-07-27T08:46:25","modified_gmt":"2009-07-27T13:46:25","slug":"tcm-training-week-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2009\/tcm-training-week-6\/","title":{"rendered":"TCM Training Week 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Been running. \u00a0Got sick.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Past Posts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two years ago I ran the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2007\/race-review-chesterfield-10k-july-4th\/\">Chesterfield 10k<\/a> on the 4th of July. This was a tough race with some great competition.\u00a0 An older post about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2007\/obsessive-running-logs\/\">running logs<\/a>, it could probably use an update.\u00a0\u00a0 Have you been wearing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/summer-flip-flop-pain\/\">flip-flops<\/a> this summer? I got some for $1 at Old Navy, but I don&#8217;t wear them very often, because they don&#8217;t help very much for my foot pain.\u00a0 Several videos including some about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/africa-land-of-hope-and-joy\/\">World Vision<\/a> and some humorous one about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/another-treadmill-video\/\">treadmills<\/a>.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/foto-friday-31\/\">Foto Friday<\/a> was a throwback to winter and the ridiculous amount of clothing necessary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Last Year&#8217;s Mileage<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Run: 34.2 Miles<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The week began well enough, with a 3.5 mile run <strong>Monday <\/strong>run on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2008\/pike-islands-trails\/\">Pike Island<\/a>. \u00a0It was 63 degrees and I saw 5 adult and lots of baby turkeys, 4 deer and 2 humans on the loop. \u00a0I wore my Salomon trail shoes for the first time on a run and liked them well enough. It felt nice and easy and my foot didn&#8217;t really hurt too much.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday&#8217;s <\/strong>group run was at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ci.edina.mn.us\/ParksAndFacilities\/L3-01_Bredeson.htm\">Bredesen Park in Edina<\/a>. We ran 7.25 miles in 58 minutes. \u00a0Our pace dipped into the low 7 minute pace. It was 81 and humid. \u00a0My foot had hurt all day but after running it actually felt good. \u00a0Odd&#8230; \u00a0We saw lots of rabbits.<\/p>\n<p>Had a morning meeting on <strong>Wednesday <\/strong>which kept me from running, but got 2.16 miles in on <strong>Thursday<\/strong> morning. \u00a0It was 60 and humid as I ran around the neighborhood, making a large square. \u00a0Saw more graffiti that I reported to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ci.mpls.mn.us\/311\/\">311<\/a>. \u00a0We&#8217;ve seen a huge increase in rival gang graffiti so we&#8217;ve been trying to report everything we see.<\/p>\n<p>I had planned on running <strong>Friday<\/strong> morning but my neck and back hurt so I thought I&#8217;d wait and see if I felt better and run later. \u00a0By the evening, the pains hadn&#8217;t gone away and I was feeling achy all over my body. \u00a0The flu like symptoms continued into <strong>Saturday<\/strong> and mid-afternoon I was shaking from cold chills so we went to urgent care. \u00a0Some blood work was drawn but it looks like a virus. \u00a0So there isn&#8217;t anything they can do. \u00a0Oddly, the doctor said they couldn&#8217;t test me for <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Influenza A virus subtype H1N1\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Influenza_A_virus_subtype_H1N1\">H1N1<\/a>. \u00a0It sounded like they couldn&#8217;t test me at all since I wasn&#8217;t in the &#8220;at-risk populations&#8221;, but it may have just been that I didn&#8217;t have the respiratory or diarrheal symptoms associated with that particular strain. \u00a0Rest and lots of fluids are my prescription. \u00a0Yuck.\u00a0 My fever finally broke late on Saturday and I awoke <strong>Sunday<\/strong> feeling a lot better and almost back to normal.\u00a0 My body still hurts and I&#8217;m still contagious.\u00a0 The doctor gave me a work release until at least Tuesday, so that is nice.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure if I&#8217;ll try running or working out again before Wednesday or not.\u00a0 Frustrating.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Year&#8217;s Mileage<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Run: 12.9 Miles<br \/>\nBike: 21.5 Miles<\/p>\n<div class=\"zemanta-pixie\" style=\"margin-top: 10px; height: 15px;\"><a class=\"zemanta-pixie-a\" title=\"Reblog this post [with Zemanta]\" href=\"http:\/\/reblog.zemanta.com\/zemified\/de5b25a4-9d08-4783-be72-20c1f1c13ccb\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"zemanta-pixie-img\" style=\"border: medium none; float: right;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/img.zemanta.com\/reblog_e.png?w=625\" alt=\"Reblog this post [with Zemanta]\" \/><\/a><span class=\"zem-script more-related pretty-attribution\"><script src=\"http:\/\/static.zemanta.com\/readside\/loader.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Been running. \u00a0Got sick.
