{"id":1184,"date":"2009-03-18T04:54:17","date_gmt":"2009-03-18T09:54:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/?p=1184"},"modified":"2009-03-17T17:01:32","modified_gmt":"2009-03-17T22:01:32","slug":"thoughts-on-running-shoes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamcrossworld.com\/running\/2009\/thoughts-on-running-shoes\/","title":{"rendered":"Thoughts on Running Shoes"},"content":{"rendered":"<table border=\"0\" align=\"right\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/running\/images\/newshoes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"196\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>I have really enjoyed my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0012EGKZW?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=crossinator-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0012EGKZW\">Mizuno Wave Inspire<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=crossinator-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B0012EGKZW\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/> running shoes.\u00a0 I started with the 3 and am now on my third pair of the 4&#8217;s.\u00a0 They came out with a 5, but the 4 is cheaper so that&#8217;s what I went for.\u00a0 Oddly, I first picked up the 3 because it was on the clearance rack at a running shoe store.<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" align=\"left\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/running\/images\/oldshoes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"176\" height=\"140\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>I know, that is dangerous.\u00a0 But I did due diligence and talked with the staff to make sure that the Wave Inspire was the correct shoe for me based on my wearing of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B001HZYUYY?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=crossinator-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B001HZYUYY\">Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=crossinator-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B001HZYUYY\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>.\u00a0 Later I found this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brooksrunning.com\/Help\/Fit+%26+Sizing\/Brand+Comparison+Chart\">great chart<\/a> that shows all of the different major brands and which shoe you should wear based on your current one.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure that last sentance makes sense so based on the fact that I wore the Adrenaline GTS it recommends Mizuno&#8217;s Wave Inspire and Asics GT-2140, etc&#8230; I wish there was a good chart that could help you pick out trail running shoes based on your road shoe, without making a trip to the store.<\/p>\n<p>It is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brooksrunning.com\/Help\/Fit+%26+Sizing\/Brand+Comparison+Chart\">fun little chart<\/a> and I recommend looking at it.\u00a0 A lot of people say that you should never change shoes after you find one that you like, but there is a lot of anecdotal information out there that every now and then it is good to switch brands &#8211; each one is a little different and that will help your foot and body.\u00a0 Obviously, I have changed brands a few times.\u00a0 I wore Adidas in college, Asics for a few years, then Brooks, and now Mizuno.\u00a0 I can attest that they are all a little different and my feet have enjoyed pretty much all of them.<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" align=\"right\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/running\/images\/muddyshoes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"184\" height=\"167\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>INSTRUCTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I started writing this post to highlight some of the &#8220;care instructions&#8221; and a &#8220;Caution&#8221; that came with my most recent Mizuno purchase.\u00a0 I find them a little humorous.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; None of the Mizuno range shoes are suitable for machine washing.\u00a0 This may destroy or damage the technical fibers used on the shoes.\u00a0 <em>We had a freshman one year in college who washed his shoes occasionally (in the washing machine).\u00a0 One time he washed them and then the next day we ran on some muddy trails.\u00a0 He complained the whole time about getting his clean shoes muddy. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>-Your shoes should be regularly cleaned and maintained.\u00a0 Generally this can be done by hand washing in soapy water, however you should not use chemically enhanced powders or detergents. <em>Does running through puddles count? I&#8217;ve never washed my shoes with soap.\u00a0 Does it add extra mileage to them?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Do not force or artificially dry your shoes. This may damage or destroy the materials or substances used in production.<em> Well talk about confusing &#8211; don&#8217;t wash, then wash them but you can&#8217;t dry them.\u00a0 Actually the best way to dry your shoes is to stuff them with old newspapers and lean them up against a wall so the toes are pointing down.\u00a0 They&#8217;ll usually be dry overnight.<\/em><\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" align=\"left\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/running\/images\/ducttapeshoes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"187\" height=\"140\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&#8211; You should regularly check your shoes to ensure that the necessary components are still suitable for performance as deteriorated midsoles or outsoles may cause injuries.\u00a0 <em>Components? Are the shoes little widgets? Shoes only last for about 300 &#8211; 500 miles depending on your build and gait.\u00a0 The soles will start to break down and show wear.\u00a0 Even if they don&#8217;t it is a good idea to purchase new ones. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cautions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; This product has been designed and manufactured for the sport running.
