OUTRUN THE SUN 5 Miler
This event was won by Andy Wilson in 26:00 (5:12 pace) and the female winner was
Heather Fink in 32:06 (6:25 pace). This event drew national attention with
participants from Illinois, Connecticut, Minnesota, Georgia, and Tennessee. All
proceeds from this Saturday evening run went to Out Run the Sun, Inc.
Event manager Tuxbro had this to say about the event:
Outrun the Sun a big success!

Well over 2,000 people registered for the Outrun the Sun Race on Saturday evening June 2 to support melanoma education and research. Participants and their families enjoyed post-race Donatos Pizza, Ritter’s Frozen Custard, Kids’ Runs, music by Stone Hollow and great prizes at the Neutrogena, SHAPE Magazine, and Subaru tents. Thanks to everyone who braved the humidity and chance of rain! Next year’s Outrun the Sun is June 7!

Chart & Map Your Favorite Course

Using Google’s Gmaps Pedometer technology you can easily chart your upcoming run, or figure out how far you ran today. It seems to be fairly accurate and easy to use. Some other benefits include being able to e-mail the route to a friend, save a link to your route in any electronic format (excel, word, etc) and can view a topographic map of the area (limited areas currently). You can get the map in miles or kilometers.

The USATF has actually taken this technology one step farther with there website America’s Running Routes. Another popular site with similar features and the ability to add thinks such as aid stations, points of interest, and others is Run the Planet’s www.run.com Both site let you save your routes in a searchable database for other interested runners. If you travel you can use this feature to find a route in your destination city.

I would highly recommend using any of these sites, they definitely have helped on longer runs when you need to measure out some strange or different routes (to break up the monotony).

Welcome

Welcome to Run Central Indiana.

This is my humble attempt to create a resource for runners across Central Indiana to find out information about upcoming races, race results, and race commentary.

Feel free to post upcoming events via the comment section (I’ll add a submission function at some point). I’ll occasionally browse some of my favorite running sites to add races to the list as well.

Good Luck!
