Races on October 20

I will be at the Indianapolis Marathon, but will be running the half-marathon.  It looks like an excellent weekend for racing again!  Hope to see you there!! This will also be my race for the World-Wide Half Marathon.

Norris Insurance 5 Miler begins at 8am in Bunker Hill.  This is the final race in the Norris Insurance race series. 

12th Annual Indianapolis Marathon, Half, and 5K begins at 8:30am in Lawrence.  You must pre-register for this event and registration will close when 4,500 is reached or Friday evening during packet pick-up.

Dalmatian Foundation 5K begins at 8:30am at the Hayes Arboretum in Richmond.  This is part of the Wayne County Challenge. PDF registration form.

Riley Lions Club 5K begins at 9am in front of the Riley Elementary School. Registration is only $6.  Contact Jeff for more information (812) 894-3394.

I won’t be racing this weekend, going to Columbus to watch Ohio State crush Kent State (sorry Purdue fans)!

Trinity Free Clinic 5K Run and Fitness Walk starts at 8:30am in Carmel.

DINO Trail Run 5K & 15K #6 is being held at Southwestway Park in Indianapolis. 15K begins at 9am.

Black Cat 5K Run/Walk (pdf) begins at 5pm in New Castle. Benefits the Henry County YMCA.

2007 Run for their Lives 1K & 7K starts at 9am and 9:30am respectively. The event hosted by Ken Long & Associates is being held at Hazel Dell Christian Church in Carmel benefiting UNICEF and FAME.

Spotlight on Nursing 4 Miler starts at 9am in downtown Indianapolis at Buggs Temple. Proceeds benefit the Nursing 2000 Scholarship Fund. Run a new course for this years event.

5th Annual Hot Pursuit 5K starts at World Gospel Church in Terre Haute at 9am (8:45 for walkers). All proceeds benefit the Indiana Concerns of Police Survivors.

Sprint with the SPIRIT 5K starts at 9am in Columbus, IN with proceeds benefiting the SPSL 8th Grade Class Trip to Washington DC.

Crusade Against Hunger 5K (pdf) begins at 9am in Celery Bog Park in West Lafayette. All proceeds benefit the St James Lutheran Church’s food pantry.

5K Fun Run/Walk In Memory of Yeunkyung Woo starts at 8am at the Yeunkyung Woo Memorial Garden.

Lafayette Family YMCA Pumpkin Push 10k and 1 Mile Fun Run begins at 9am at Mar Len Park in Lafayette.

I’m not racing this weekend, but I will be in Chicago on Sunday for the marathon.  If you are going let me know and I’ll try and cheer for you!

The Sheridan Harvest 5K Run/Walk begins at 8:30am in Sheridan.  All proceeds from this Ken Long & Associates event go towards expansion of and maintenance for the Monon Trail.

Monster Mash Dash 5 Mile Run/5K walk begins at 4:30pm.  There are lots of kids activities beginning at 3pm.  It is being held at the “haunted” Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis. Tuxbro is hosting this event for the Indiana Association for Child Care Resources & Referral. Don’t forget your costume!

Race for the Cure – Wabash Valley is part of the Susan G. Komen race series.  The 5K begins at 10:30am at St Mary-of-the-Woods College but events are going on all day.  More information at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Wabash Valley website.  

Zoomtown 5K Covered Bridge Run/Walk (pdf) begins at 8am at Westland Co-Op in Rockville, IN.  You will run through two historic covered bridges!

Mel Henry 5 Mile Run (doc) begins at 8am in Battle Ground Indiana.  It is being hosted by the Wabash River Runners Club.

Big Read…Big Run…Big Fun! 5K (pdf) begins at 9am at the Frankfort Community Public Library and finishes at the Clinton County Family YMCA.  Uses 15 year age groups.

Run for Ronald 5K begins at 9am at the NCAA Hall of Champions in Indianapolis.  All participants will receive a free entry to the museum after the event. All proceeds from this Standing O Promotions event will benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

Riley Run 5K (pdf) begins at 8:30am in Greenfield.  All proceeds benefit the Hancock County Boys and Girls Club, Hancock County Red Cross, and Hancock County Hearing Impaired.  This is part of the Riley Festival.

5th Annual Freedom Run 5 Mile Run/3 Mile Walk begins at 8am at Fishers High School and is part of the Fishers Freedom Festival October Events.

The IWU Wildcat 5K is being held at The Wellness Center in Marion.  Contact 765-674-4455 for more information.

St Bernard’s K-5 5K begins at 9am at St Bernards Catholic School in Crawfordsville.  Contact Erica.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 7

The 4th Annual Evansville Half-Marathon begins at 8am in Evansville.  This event benefits the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana.

I will be joining my wife and her family at the Turn up the Volume race supporting Ovarian cancer this weekend. I’ll be racing the 4Mi run, my wife and sister-in-law will walk the 3 mile walk, and the parents-in-law will be doing the 1 mile walk. Some good ole fashion family fun!

Turn Up the Volume to BLAST Ovarian Cancer begins at 9am at Victory Field in Indianapolis. This event raising money for Ovar’Coming Together and is being hosted by Tuxbro.

8th Annual Hoosiers Outrun Cancer 5K begins at 10:30am at IU’s Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. All proceeds benefit the Olcott Center for Cancer Education. In conjunction with the World Wide Day of Play there will be lots of activities for the kids. Hosted by Ken Long & Associates.

Cole Porter 15K Run & 5K Run/Walk (pdf) begins at 9am at the Circus Building in Peru. It is being hosted by the Peru Rotary Club to benefit the rails to trails program.

Little Run on the Hillside 5K begins at 8am at Northview Christian Life Church’s XC Courses in Carmel. Proceeds earned during the event are used towards programs for the church and school (Saint Louis de Montfort Catholic Parish) such as tuition assistance, strengthening our community outreach program for the homeless, and supporting a food pantry for the poor in Hamilton County.

2nd Annual 5K Carmel Lions Run/Family Walk for Sight (pdf) begins at 9am at the Carmel Lions Club. All proceeds will go towards screening pre-school children’s vision.

Putnam County Museum 4Mi Run/2Mi Walk is at DePauw’s Nature Park in Greencastle starting at 9am. Contact Lee Stewart for more information.

Cory Apple Festival 5K is at the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department beginning at 9am. All proceeds benefit the Perry Twp Volunteer Fire Department. Prize given for best apple themed costume.

Harvest Hustle 5K Run/Walk (doc) begins at 8:30 am at the Fowler Town Park Shelter House near Fowler, IN.

McDonald’s 2nd Annual 5K Community Walk/Run begins at 3pm at the Greenwood McDonalds on State Road 135. Contact Carol Hoskins for more information.

SUNDAY

Kay Roberts Memorial Trot for the Cure 5K begins at 8:30 at Indiana Downs in Shelbyville. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Forgot a Race For This Weekend

I forgot about this race, I kept trying to remind myself to put it with the list from yesterday, but I forgot. I guess it is only a big deal because the money being raised supports the Muncie Boys & Girls Club and I’m friends with the director.

It is Saturday starting at 10am. Registration opens at 9:30 it is a 5K run/walk and a 1 mile run. Race day registration is $11. It is being held at Ball State’s LaFollette Field. They will have Concannon’s Doughnuts (Mmmm). Contact jlpollack@bsu.edu for more information. I know this is a first year event being produced by Ball State Marketing students. They will have lots of raffle prizes!
