With the recent spat (hopefully a long-term spat) of warmer weather it has been great to be outside and enjoying creation!

This past weekend Christy and I were able to really enjoy being outside and I raced a 15k (9.3 miles). We also got to enjoy playing croquet with her family!!

However, I also received bad news on the job front. An opportunity that looked really good fell through when they didn’t offer me a second interview. It has been a little frustrating and disappointing because we had hoped to already be both gainfully employed somewhere new by now! We have tried to stay positive and focused on waiting patiently for God to reveal His plans and opportunities for us. I’d say it has been a time of brokenness and refocusing. I would have said it is inconceivable for me not to have a job yet! I guess that was my arrogance (what I would call self-confidence) in my abilities and skills. So I am humbly continuing the job search and praying for some good news!

In our daily devotional time together we read this passage last night from 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 and it seemed quite appropriate. We read The Message (but I’ve added the NIV below for balance and clarity).

16 -18So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.

16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
